September Is Here… Now What?

Can you believe we’re already heading into September?
It feels like we were just getting ready for back-to-school, buying supplies, packing backpacks, and trying to get everyone ready for that first day. Now, a few weeks in, the kids are finally settling into school, families are getting back into their routines, and hopefully mornings are getting a little easier!
September always feels like that month where things start settling down a bit.
But it’s also a good time to remember that for many families, getting through back-to-school was only the beginning.
The school supplies may have been purchased and the uniforms may be ready, but groceries still need to be bought. Bills still need to be paid. Kids still come home hungry. And sometimes families are doing everything they can and still need a little help.
That’s one of the reasons the work we do at His Hands and Feet continues long after the first day of school.
Sometimes It’s the Simple Things
One of the things I’ve learned through this work is that helping someone doesn’t always have to be complicated.
Sometimes it’s groceries.
Sometimes it’s school supplies.
Sometimes it’s connecting someone with a resource.
And sometimes it’s simply showing up when someone needs you.
That’s really what His Hands and Feet is about.
We may not be able to fix every problem, but we can do something. And when enough people decide to do something, that little bit can become a whole lot.
Labor Day and the People Who Keep Showing Up
As we celebrate Labor Day this month, I also want to take a moment to recognize the people who work so hard in our community.
Our teachers and school staff. Our first responders. Parents working long hours. Volunteers giving up their own time. Community partners who answer our calls and say, “How can we help?”
And, of course, the people who have supported His Hands and Feet along the way.
Some of you have donated.
Some have volunteered.
Some have shared our posts.
Some have connected us with someone who could help.
And some of you simply continue to encourage us.
It all matters.
We truly could not do what we do without people willing to come alongside us.
Something Special Is Coming
We’re also getting ready for Give Miami Day!
If you’ve never heard of it, Give Miami Day is a day when our Miami community comes together to support local nonprofits and the work they’re doing right here at home.
And yes… His Hands and Feet will be participating!
We’ll be sharing much more about it as we get closer, including what we’re working on, who your support helps, and how you can get involved.
But here’s the thing: supporting us doesn’t always mean writing a check.
Share one of our posts.
Tell someone about us.
Volunteer.
Donate items.
Introduce us to a business that may want to partner with us.
There are so many ways to be part of what we’re doing.
So, What Are We Doing This September?
We’re going to keep showing up.
We’re going to keep filling needs where we can.
We’re going to keep working with our schools and community partners.
And we’re going to keep reminding people that helping someone doesn’t have to be a huge production.
Sometimes you just start with what you have.
So as we head into September, here’s a little challenge for all of us:
Find one way to help someone this month.
It doesn’t have to cost anything.
Check on someone. Donate something you already have. Help a neighbor. Encourage a teacher. Volunteer somewhere. Buy an extra grocery item for someone who needs it.
Just do something.
Because kindness has a funny way of spreading.
And that’s exactly the kind of September we want to have.
Happy September from all of us at His Hands and Feet, Inc.
Let’s keep serving, loving, and showing up for our community—together.
